Update Belgium adm location map.svg

Hi there! As of January 1, 2025, the municipalities of Beveren, Kruibeke and Zwijndrecht have fused together. As a result of that, the province of East Flanders has increased in size and the province of Antwerp has decreased in size, as Zwijndrecht was originally part of Antwerp. Hello! Thanks for telling me. Please use Belgium adm location map.svg instead of Belgium location map.svg because Belgium location map.svg is part of a map series which isn't updated any more. Both maps have got the same extent so it is easy to change the map. NNW 18:01, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

Correction request

Hi.

Can you color Lebanon in gray in File:Rail gauge world with legend.svg, File:Rail gauge world.svg and File:Rail gauge world.png?

Rail transport in Lebanon ceased to exist with start of the Lebanese Civil War and its railway tracks and almost all train stations have been destroyed.

Map creation

Hello! I didn't create that map but as it is said in file description it is ETOPO1 data (see en:Global relief model). You will need a software that can handle this data. Of course there is vector data needed, too, so this software will have to be able to work with that or you will need a different one in which you can combine vector and image data. As I don't know which computer system you use, your software or your cartographic skills it is impossible for me to tell you something helpful. NNW 20:11, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Okay, so I have a QGIS program. I learned that I could use Inkscape for processing. Dear @NordNordWest, I want to create maps like yours. I am so interested in creating such maps of my country that I cannot focus my attention on anything else. To be honest, I've never worked with these programs before, but I'd like to explore similar relief and location maps. To create such maps, there are also lessons on the Graphic Lab project in Commons, but many of the data in them are not working. Some lessons have not yet been completed. I hope you will help me)). Angola location maps, update needed

Hallo @NordNordWest!

I noticed you are the wizard behind c:File:Angola location map.svg. This administrative division of Angola is used also in c:File:Angola relief location map.jpg. I wonder if you have time and possibility to update these two files? The law on the political-administrative division of Angola (22 August 2024) changed the provincial and local division of the country. Current province level division is summarized in this map. For a longer description with references, please have a look here.

As the widely used maps now have an outdated administrative division of Angola, an update is requested as soon as possible.

1) Firstly, one might want to check that the starting point is correct. It appears that perhaps, in c:File:Angola location map.svg the borderline between a) Bengo and Cuanza Norte provinces, and b) Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul provinces might need some changes? I mean, the current map seems to differ from the DPA map of Angola, attached above.

2) Due to new provinces: c) New border line should be drawn to separate the capital region, i.e. Luanda province (remaining part), and new Icolo e Bengo province. d) Another borderline is needed to separate new Moxico Leste province from the Moxico province (remaining part). e) Finally, one more borderline is needed, as former Cuando Cubango province was divided into two parts: Cuando province and Cubango province.

3) When new Angola location map.svg is ready, these borders should be updates also to create new version of c:File:Angola relief location map.jpg.

4) All the province maps of Angola should be updated to follow the new DPA (political-administrative division) of Angola. I think other editors could do this, if you are busy.

5) This is not so urgent: For new municipal level division map of Angola, one could contact the national geodetic (mapping research) institute of Angola (in Portuguese: Instituto Geográfico e Cadastral de Angola, IGCA) if this is not done already as part of the provincial level map update for the wikimedia community. Typically a national mapping institute or some relevant ministry shares the administrative borderlines openly through some server.

Its appendices with tables and maps clarify the many changes in Angola's 2024 political-regional reform. It will certainly be helpful when many articles are updated in various Wikipedia languages and it helps writing new ones! Can you add Suursaari (Gogland) and Tytärsaari (Bolshoy Tyuters) to be included in Finland as was agreed in the Treaty of Tartu. I'd like to have your original map updated as it's used already instead creating my own copy. File:Finland_(1920-1940)_location_map.svg?

Correction request to location map of Kazakhstan

Hello @NordNordWest, Could you please correct some of the regional borders on File:Kazakhstan adm location map.svg? I noticed that some of the regional borders shown in this map file are incorrectly represented as they are in reality.

Some of the recognizable errors include:

• The lower part of the Aktobe Region-Kyzylorda Region border (The territory of the Aktobe Region should be shifted further east to include part of the Aral Sea)
• A part of the Jambyl Region-Almaty Region border on Lake Balkhash (There are also parts of the Almaty Region on the western side of Lake Balkhash)
• A part of the Abai Region-Jetisu Region border on Lake Alakol (The border runs through the largest island in the lake, Ul'kun-Aral-Tyube)
• A part of the Abai Region-East Kazakhstan Region border (Where Lake Zaysan meets the Irtysh River, the territory of the Abai Region includes all of the western side of the Irtysh River)

There may be additional unrecognized errors, so it may be necessary to re-verify the entire borders using OpenStreetMap or some other accurate data sources. Czech region maps

Hello. Please, can I ask you to edit banch of maps of czech regions? The boundary between Jihomoravský (SüdMahren) and Vysočina (Hochland) has ajusted like 20 years ago. Also boundary between Středočeský (MittelBohem) and Plzeňský (Pilsen) are nowday difrents. Unfortunetly, the maps on Commons are not actual. All maps in Category:SVG locator maps of regions in the Czech Republic (location map scheme) need to be updated. Sadly, I can´t provide you correct borders in any actual file in Commons. Unfortunately, I don't know how to edit SVG files, because I lack the knowledge. I can only revert them. I reverted File:Holocaust Denial Laws 2022.svg to its 2022 status, because its name is fixed with that year, and should show changes up to that year, but not beyond. Every other file name about Holocaust denial laws, has a fixed year as well. Only File:Holocaust Denial Laws.svg has not, and that is why it should be updated instead.

Map alignment

Hi, I would like to ask about the historical maps about their ratio and scale. How can I align them to make a complete WWII map. There are some maps of that period which I used in Illustrator, but yours are too detailed. I'm using Qgis for mapping, but only for more to the day maps. Iraqi Governorates map: Halabja

Halabja Governorate in Iraq is not that big. It only consists of Halabja District and nothing else. I can understand the mistake since the governorate was created during the ISIS invasion causing vagueness and the fact that it was an unofficial governorate until two months ago. Governorates in Egypt

Hello, you created maps of the governorates of Egypt one in red and another in orange, but they contain some mistakes.

1. The current administrative division is the one shown in the red maps, which has been in effect since before 2006. For example, I believe it would have been better if Aswan in Egypt (2011) were renamed to Aswan in Egypt.svg, while the TUBS maps could be renamed to something like Aswan in Egypt (2006).
2. Monufia Governorate has had this shape since 1991, but the orange maps do not include its extension west of the Rosetta Branch.
3. Luxor Governorate has had its current shape since its establishment in 2009, but your maps still show its administrative boundaries as they were when it was designated a special city.
4. These two files (1, 2) are incorrect, as the southern part of Cairo Governorate has always belonged to Giza, like what is shown in these two files (1, 2).

Pushpin map of Khulna division in Bangladesh showing problems in use on Bangla Wikipedia

When this file is used in an article on the Bangla Wikipedia, the location on the map in that article is shown incorrectly. The English Wikipedia shows it correctly. Please fix it.

Request for location map: Alaska, administrative, SVG format, conic projection

Hello NNW,

I love your maps and I am aware you have made many administrative SVG location maps with conic projection, like Argentina and others. Could you please make one for Alaska? Currently there is only an equirectangular one, which is quite distorted given how large and northern Alaska is. Also I would say it has too many minor rivers.

Ideally, there could be two maps: one including all the Aleutian Islands and one centered on the mainland, with somewhat different central meridians. If you make only one of the two, it is best to have the complete map. I trust you to chose suitable projection parameters but if that helps you you I can give parameters that I think would work well.

If you also do the associated topographic map(s) it's great; if you do only the administrative then at some point I will make a PNG topographic map based on them and GEBCO elevation data, like this map of Uruguay.

There are other countries or areas with only equirectangular location maps so far, where a conic location map might be useful because of otheir combination of size and distance from the Equator (but not as much as Alaska): some of the large provinces of Canada (Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and especially British Columbia), Kazakhstan (I did this but it's PNG and I see above that the provincial borders have moved), Australia in SVG format (I did this PNG), Mongolia, and perhaps New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Turkey, India. Hallo @NordNordWest, wäre es möglich, dass du eine Karte erstellst, die das Gebiet des Südwestdeutschen Fußballverbands abbildet? Es handelt sich hierbei um das selbe Gebiet wie das des Zweckverband Schienenpersonennahverkehr Rheinland-Pfalz Süd, für das du bereits eine Karte erstellt hast: File:Zweckverband Schienenpersonennahverkehr Rheinland-Pfalz Süd.svg Falls möglich würde ich mich freuen, wenn dieses Gebiet gelb hervorgehoben wird und der Rest von RLP ebenso grau wie das Saarland oder Hessen. Ganz lieben Dank für den schnellen Support! Könntest du eventuell noch die Namen der Landkreise rausnehmen? Ich möchte später die Vereine lokalisieren und dann stören die Namen. Und wenn es keinen großen Aufwand bereitet, könntest du den Kartenausschnitt auf das markierte Verbandsgebiet konzentrieren und nicht auf Gesamt-RLP?

Karte Entstehung der Corps

Request for Central Asia locator/relief maps

Hello NNW, I am currently working on improving an array of historical Central Asia topics, such as en:Russian conquest of Central Asia and en:Turkestan Autonomy. Currently, the only available locator and relief maps of the region are for specific countries, often excluding areas which would be useful to include. I was wondering if you could create a relief and locator map that includes all of Central Asia. Maps of the region including the pre-1960 Aral Sea would also be useful to prevent anachronisms in articles, though they are less necessary. Can you update the maps File:Übersichtskarte der Straßenbahn Jerusalem.png, File:Jerusalemlightrailmap.png, File:Karte der Straßenbahn Jerusalem (topographisch).png, File:Karte der Straßenbahn Jerusalem.png and File:Jerusalem Mass Transit.svg (Red Line only)?

The maps about the Jerusalem tram network need to be updated, because the southwest section of the Red Line from Mount Herzl to Hadassah Ein Kerem and the northeast section from Ha-Avir to Neve Ya'akov North opened in 2025.

Brčko District

Hi NNW. May I ask you to create two location maps: 1. for Brčko District in Bosnia and Hercegovina (File:Brcko District in Bosnia and Herzegovina.svg and 2. for Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina)? Similar to those you have already created for Croatian entities. We have already File:Republika Srpska location map.svg. for the third entity. Please have a look if this is technically proper.
